Laiden Dreams

I was thinking fondly of an old friend today, and thought I'd share a poem I wrote, years ago... like June 2003. Yes, the title is misspelled, I did that on purpose. It's an anagram for Daniel.

Laiden Dreams

Distance is decieving in the Dark
she gazed longingly into the night
Objects imagined are farther than they seem
his face danced tauntingly in her mind
The stars, their pale flicker reflecting secret eyes
his smile haunted her dreams
Of others bereft, hoping beyond sanity
no longer would she bask
Their tiny tears filling the sky
in his sunny joyful presence
Paling at dawn, fading away
he was gone, like the setting sun
As the sun revives the dancing colours
unlike the sun, no promise of return
Faithfully drying the tears away
to keep her through the lonely night
Illuminating reality anew
